You might well have tried Skype a few months or even years ago, and dismissed it as a poor quality option. In its early days this was a common complaint. Calls would be dropped, breakup, and the whole experience although free, was just not viable except for chatting to friends abroad, because being free, it was bearable some of the time!
Three very distinct and important things have happened more recently.
1) The Company was bought by eBay.
2) Broadband speed and reliability worldwide has increased dramatically.
3) Skype software has improved beyond recognition.
Speaking from my personal experience, I now find using Skype to call Computers or normal Landline Telephones, to be of excellent quality. Not too well known, is that you can now subscribe to Skype In/Out for around £3.95 per month without any long term commitment, and make good quality Europe wide calls to landlines free. Yes absolutely FREE!
I have tested this from Spain to UK landlines, for business calls, and nobody even suspected the call was anything other than a normal landline call!
The skype software is free still, and is a complete telecom's management system with Address Book, Video Calling facilities which operated flawlessly in my personal experience. Now is the time to look at Skype and save all those international call costs!
